Bridgeport Weatherized Healthy Homes Certificate Program
9 Week Program
Weatherization Technician Training:
This training consists of 40 hours of class lectures, task-related mathematics and workshop training in weatherization specific carpentry. Also included are site visits and hands-on weatherization work, blueprint reading, safety protocols, window & door replacement, insulation tasks, course review & exam.
Healthy Homes Training:
The Healthy Homes training prepares the technician to recognize hazardous conditions that should be abated or mitigated before weatherization takes place. This training consists of 24 hours of reviewing health and safety conditions in homes. It provides the technician with tools to identify hazards and conditions that compromise the quality of living for the building’s occupants, including but not limited to: chemicals, lack of cleanliness, dryness, physical building conditions, pest infestation, poor safety and ventilation conditions.
Courses related to Healthy Homes:
- Asbestos Worker Initial Certification (32 hours); covers CT DPH Standards
- Lead Worker Initial Certification Training (32 hours); covers CT DPT Standards
- Mold Remediation Supervisor Certification Training (24 hours)
- Radon Testing & Mitigation Certification Training (24 hours)
- EPA-Lead Renovation, Repair & Painting Certification Training (RRP) (8 hours)
- HAZARDOUS Waste & Emergency Response Certification Training (HAZWOPER) (40 hours)
- Confined Space Training (8 hours)
* Job Readiness Course & Counseling included in all 9 week programs
* Stipend available
Our courses and certifications are provided by qualified training personnel approved by the Connecticut State Health Department. Our graduates are licensed by the State of Connecticut to perform lead and asbestos abatement. Upon program completion, students receive certifications for each successfully completed course.
