The United Way of Coastal Fairfield County (UWCFC) is dedicated to improving the lives of our area residents by leading the fight for health, education and family financial stability. Each year, United Way honors business and community leaders who are engaged in programs that support these missions at their Live United Celebration.
Adrienne Farrar Houël, President and CEO of Greater Bridgeport Community Enterprises (GBCE) was proud to be recognized at the 2017 celebration for a “Lifetime of Excellence in Community Engagement Work”. Houël said she was honored and humbled to receive the August F. Serra Community Engagement Award for her work through GBCE. GBCE operates social business ventures that offer jobs and training to the region’s disadvantaged residents who experience barriers to employment. Their most recognized program is the Park City Green mattress recycling venture employing 26 area residents.
